Avery Mendel Daves is a 27 year-old mother/artist currently living back in Florida, after a year pregnant abroad in Costa Rica. Avery and her husband, Ridge, started the first kava bar in the country as an alternative for drinking/drugging. She graduated from Rollins College with a major in Art History, on time even after losing a semester to a newly diagnosed disorder.
Avery was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, but grew up in South Florida where she attended many schools. She has worked personally and professionally with artists locally and internationally, while also working in museums and galleries. “Ave Daves” is a full time mommy, but paints for gifts and commissions. She enjoys creating colorful, provocative pieces that spark conversation. If you ever wondered what was going on in Avery’s head, you would find it in her paintings of mania/depression, grief, love, religion, and thanks.
She has been a guest speaker with Dan Pichney for Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation at Surovek Gallery, Palm Beach. Avery’s been there, done that, and got the hospital bracelet. She wants to share her story and ways to cope, so others might avoid some unnecessary trauma.
Avery also learned first hand, that this is the greatest country in the world- because nothing makes you more patriotic than living abroad. God bless America 🇺🇸
